Al...most....there....

Tonight I managed to finish up my grandmother's wrap COMPLETELY. I have been working on this sucker for-ever! But it looks good and feels oh so soft. Hopefully she will enjoy it. I will also be sure to get some photos of it WITH my grandma in it. :)

Dad's scarf is almost done too. The pattern I picked out somehow started to roll like crazy so when I was finished with the scarf it was a little tube scarf. It was so odd looking and totally not the look I was going for.

But! Being the genius that I am, I crocheted a little border onto it the sides and its laying flat like a pancake. Hopefully it will be long enough to not look stupid on him when he wears it. Bless my dad. I know he will be a good sport no matter what.

On a completely different note...My personal trainer bailed on Sunday. What the hell is that about? I showed up at noon (as hard as it was) and she was nowhere to be found. I finallly got a call from her around 8 or so saying how sorry she was. Hmpf. I will forgive her this once, but it really put a bad taste in my mouth. I mean I can understand missing appointments because of memory failures, but when your entire business relies on appointments then I expect a little more. Is that wrong?!

Only three more days till I see my parents!!!!!!!

YIPPEE!

Merry Stressmas!

I've been lying to myself.

I have been telling myself over and over the past few weeks that I'm not stressed out about the upcoming christmas holiday.
HA! Who was I kidding?! I'm beyond stressed.

I haven't packed for my trip. I haven't cleaned my house. I have finished mailing my gifts. I JUST mailed out my christmas cards. I'm a ball of mess. I should hire an assistant this time of year. Isn't that pathetic?

I've made the same list of To Dos about 50 times and lost it about 50 times too. It doesn't matter though. I wouldn't have marked one single thing off that list to date.

Normally I work well under pressure but apparently my job is under the impression that I should be on the ball at all times. I can't say that I blame them. So screw sleep! I'm working through the night to get things done. Dark circles under the eye are hot right? No you say. Well then god bless MAC concealer! :)

So with that...Merry Stressmas to you!

My Friends, My Links...

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have updated the "Blogs I Stalk" section of my lovely little home here.

I deleted the links that were no longer valid or haven't been updated in MONTHS. :( So sad!

However, please! please! please! Shoot me an email @ theknottygirl@gmail.com or leave a comment if you would like to be added to my blogs to stalk. After a bit of stalking I can add you on! :)

Also, if you are one of my currest stalkees and you have a button that is now available for me to steal and put on my site, let me know that too. I'm too busy reading your wonderful blogs to notice things like you added a button so be sure to fill me in.

Sounds fun huh?! You know it does.

A Family Tradition...

Yesterday I emailed my mother to ask her for a recipe that I could use to take to a Holiday Breakfast the next day at work. She emailed me back with this...

"Ho butt cinnamon buns?"

Ho Butt?! HO BUTT?! Now that there is funny.

My mom called me a few minutes later laughing because she had just seen her typing mistake, but just a bit too late. Apparently it was supposed to be how about.

Ho butt is funnier though and I think these are going to become our family tradition.

"Erin, what are you bringing to the family dinner?"

"OH! My mother's famous Ho Butt Buns!" :)

Just Call Me Julie Andrews...

Since its coming up on Christmas my mom has been asking me for something I might want. To be honest, the things I want she would never buy. Lets be honest…will mom buy the $348 bag that I just adore from Coach? Nope. I don’t think so. However, she did get me thinking. What are my favorite things!? Does she even know?! So here they are in no particular order…

These are a few of my favorite things…

1. Crabtree & Evelyn’s Sweet Almond Oil Bath & Shower Gel.
*The smell of this body wash is just amazing and I look forward to using it every time I step in the shower!

2. Kiehl’s Unusually Rich But Not Greasy At All Handcream.
*This stuff stays in purse year round. Its not only a great moisturizer but it doesn’t bother anyone with an offending scent!

3. IPod
*I can’t live without my ipod. It keeps me sane on the train, in my office, and sometimes even in my house! I love that I can listen to all my favorite music and favorite books! CDs no more!

4. My email…
*I probably check it about 1000 times a day. I’m addicted to it.

5. The Pensacola Pelicans display
*During a visit home to Pensacola, my dad took me on a tour of the Pelicans that are located around the city. I just loved them! They represented everything I loved about Pensacola…the artistic side of the city, the beach, the businesses, the military, and so much more. Unfortunately there was some vandals that decided to ruin the penguins for a big, but someone repaired them and put them back out on display! My favorite penguin was…
The Godfeather. 

6. Coach Soho Mini Signature Demi Flap
*I love this purse. I use it ALL the time. It’s the perfect size to fit right under my arm, looks good with almost anything, and matches everything! 

7. Knitting.
*Really, this could be on the top of my list if it was listed by importance.  I adore knitting. I am still kind of crappy at it, but I love the feel of the yarn in my hand, the plethora of colors to choose from, and the idea that I made something with my own two hands. This leads to my faves within knitting…

Fave LYS (local yarn store for all of you non-knitters): A Good Yarn Great employees, selection, and location!

Fave Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. It feels like butter in my hands.

Fave Pattern: The fingerless gloves from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I love this pattern mostly because its provided a few jokes between my dad and I about the need for fingers on gloves. Isnt that the point after all he says?

8. Reading.
*Its almost impossible for me to narrow down my reading adventures to just a few favorites. I love reading itself. The words, stories, and creative juices so many people put into their work. My local bookstore, Brookline Booksmith carries such a wide variety of books that I get overwhelmed. They recommend fabulous reads each month and make me want to take them all home. However, this normally calls for a trip to the library to satisfy that craving.

9. Florida State University.
*GO NOLES! I love FSU. I religiously watch the games (even though I have no idea what is going on) and support them no matter what.

10. My family, friends, and all the mutts that go with them. 
* They truly are my favorite things in the world. I don’t know what I would do without my cutie Korky, my parents, my bestfriends, and the wonderful people I meet along the way.

SO…that rounds out the favorites list.  I figured if Oprah can do it, then so can I. Just know that you aren’t getting one of each of these products. The Knotty Girl loves ya, but she just doesn’t make the money Oprah does!

Trucking along...

Let me just say first that I love Boston! Now remember that and I will come back to that later.

First...knitting updates.

Dad's scarf is coming along beautifully. I had to stop by my LYS (local yarn store) for a little help because its started to curl up on the sides. Its driving me nuts because the pattern I'm using really shouldn't roll either. Blah...

So I decided to take a little break from the scarf for a day or so and make something for myself.

Introducing my PREP scarf. I love the color combination, how easy it knits up, and the best part...its knitted on size 19s! I feel like a 4th grader learning how to knit.

Check it...

I'm about done with it and hopefully I can get back to my dad's scarf tonight.

Now...on to fun stories!

I've met TONS of people here. I've gathered up a cool group of girls that I go out with on the weekends. Last night we mosied on down to a few bars. Why, I ask you, do men feel like they have to impress EVERY girl they meet? Let me tell you...some man telling me about how much money he makes by doing nothing at work but checking his email or checking his match.com account. Way to go loser!

Last night I met one of the biggest winners yet. We were in an Irish pub, which is one of my favorite things ever (hello! Cider...on tap!), and this man proceeds to tell me how he spent 6 months in Ireland during college. My heart began to flutter. A man who could appreciate Ireland, my Irish heritage, and my love of Ireland! Ok, so apparently I got ahead of myself. That will teach me.

So this man is telling me he lived in Ireland and then he drops the bomb...he says (and I kid you not), "Irish people suck. They are rude, they smell, and they are a disgusting people." SERIOUSLY?! Instead of going off on him at that point I let him keep talking. While he on his speech about these disgusting people, I threw in a question about people with an Irish hertiage. His repsonse (again, I kid you not), "Oh. Irish Americans aren't Irish at all. They are just a bunch of people who fly some stupid flag and pretend that having an Irish last name is somehow important. Plus, they smell too."

SERIOUSLY?!

At that point I just turned on my cute little fushia high heel and hauled butt out of there.

Yet another loser man to mark off the list of stupid men to meet and yet another funny story.

Jackass.

*Alert* Cute Korky Story...

Last night I got home and changed into my pjs to take Korky for a walk. We went outside and had our usual walk around the block, played a little, and he did his business.

When I took him inside we played a little and then I left him to his own while I made dinner. About 30 minutes go by and I notice that I haven't seen him sniffing around for dropped goods. Hmm...

I look in my room, my roommates rooms, everywhere! I couldn't find him!

I started to get nervous when I noticed that a piece of his dog bone was laying in the bathroom.
Weird. I go into the bathroom, turn on the light and hear a faint sound coming from the bathtub. I pull back the curtain and there is Kork sleeping in all his glory in a little puddle of water in the tub.

He kind of made the "you are bothering me" noise so I turned off the light and let him be. I completely forgot he was in there until my roommate went in to go to the bathroom and I heard a small little yell when he decided to jump out of the tub while she was doing HER business.

Silly Kork. He just wanted to get some peace and quiet and she had to disturb him. :)

Getting over the hump...

Ok, quick little update on the Dad Scarf…

Again…sorry for the crappy photos. They are from the camera phone. I’m lazy. I have no excuses. 
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This pattern is eating up the yarn left and right! I’ve only gotten as far as a slightly deformed dickie and I’m almost through a huge skein!

Oh, well…beauty is pain. Or in this case, beauty is tons of yarn.

However, as I was showing it to my fabulous coworker, who has decided she wants to learn to knit (I will slowly conquer the world one knitter at a time!), she brought up a very valid point…

“Do people wear scarfs in Florida?”

Ugh…now that I think about it, I can remember probably two times total that I wore a scarf while I was in Florida which was a total of 23 years. What was I thinking?! Apparently, not much. Hopefully Dad will understand that my lack of being able to follow simple instructions has led to me not being able to follow a pattern and therefore leads to me only making scarfs.  My dad loves me so that should work.

On a non-knitting note…I have ponytail headache going on today. I know most of you ladies know what I am talking about. I have had my hair pulled back entirely too long today now and my head is throbbing from the weight of my cute hairdo. Why don’t I just take it down you ask?

This is why…

Notice the oh so pretty hump I have going on. Its actually worse in person and even more so from the front.

With that…

KG….OUT!

Oldies but Goodies...

So I am Netflixing it up tonight and watching the very great movie Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. I literally listened to Bryan Adams song "Everything I Do" every day at least 20 times for about two months straight. I haven't heard it in forever so tonight was a nice flashback to good times.

I remember I watched this movie with my cutie boyfriend back in the day. He was one of those boyfriends I saw at school, wrote notes to (I could have a degree in note folding!), and occasionally talked on the phone with. It was hard core serious dating back then! :)

Movie soundtracks are great because when I hear the song I immediately think of the movie and can place where, when and what I was doing when I saw that movie.

Ghostbusters II is another example of a great soundtrack. I remember that Bobby Brown was so cool back then and I thought he was the hottest thing going. Little did I know that he and Whitney would be such nutcases these days. :)

My new obsession is with the Love Actually soundtrack. It doesn't really bring up any memories from when I saw the movie but it makes me think of my time in London. It was an unforgettable time in my life and the songs from that movie just make me relive some of those moments!

Ahhh...movies. Good times, Good times.

On a knitting note...I have started to make a scarf for my Dad. Sshhh...its a secret. :)

The lovely ladies at A Good Yarn recommended the wonderful book 365 Knitting Stitches a Year Perpetual Calendar. Apparently I am the last knitter to learn about this book!

Well I found a great pattern to make my dad's scarf with and off I went with it!

So here it is. Sorry abou the poor photo quality. I'm getting high tech and took this photo with my phone to send it to my mom while I was at work. How ghetto is that?! :)

The WORST Pickup Lines Ever!

Last Thursday a couple of my friends and I went out for a nice night on the town. YES! You heard right...The Knotty Girl has friends in Boston! WHOO HOO!

But that isn't the story...what we were subjected to while on this outing is.

Friends and I are standing at the bar. Its crowded. Sweaty. And there are entirely too many colognes going on. Suddenly, I sense someone hovering over my sholder. I turn around only to come face to face with a balding man somewhere in his mid-late 30s.

He leaned forward and with his musty breath said to my friends and I, "Did one of you fart?"

Are you kidding me?! He then proceeded to walk around the circle and one by one sniff us. When he finally rounded the circle to come back to me I put my finger to his forhead as he began to lean in. I don't think so buddy. There is absolutely no sniffing of this girl no matter who you are.

From that point, he was in love. Apparently rudeness and physical violence is hot to this man.

Needless to say I was the running joke to my friends. I am the only girl they know that can make a man quiver at the knees simply by letting one go. :) (No, I DID NOT FART!)

Regrets...

I was tagged by the wonderful and lovely Katherine over at Lost in Suburbia

Instructions:
1) Call the meme "Regrets - I've Had A Few"
2) Always refer (and link back) to the blogger who tagged you
3) Always tag (and link to) at least two new bloggers
4) List as many regrets as you like, but list a minimum of one (even if you have to re-interpret the term 'regret' because you feel strongly that you don't have any)
5) Include these five rules in each post as the meme instructions.

So here goes! Normally I don't really focus on regrets. I find that by focusing on them I fail to continue to look forward and plan for the future. However, that doesn't mean that I don't have any!

1. I regret that I didn't go back to dancing classes after my knee surgery. I was constantly worried about hurting my knee again and because of this fear I missed out on doing something I absolutely loved. It made me happy. Watching. Performing. Practicing. It was all part of my life and I miss it terribly.

2. I regret that when I turned 21 I went back to my horrible eating habits that I worked so hard to fix the previous two years. I started drinking soda. I started snacking. AND I started gaining weight. Blah.

3. I regret that I didn't attempt to spend more time with my family when I was in highschool. I love spending time with them now and I think with a better attitude I could have enjoyed it more back then.

Now, although I have these regrets I do NOT regret having these experiences. They are part of what makes me who I am today. :)

So with that...I am tagging Random Robyn and Tina.

Go Knotty, Go Knotty, Go!

I have completely neglected by duties as a good blogger and for that I apologize. Hopefully you will all forgive me and return to your regularly scheduled readings of The Knotty Girl!

So Boston is fabulous! I had a small breakdown last week. Ok, so it wasn’t small and more like a flood of tears, but I quickly got over it with a stop by the local Mexican joint for free margaritas with a friend. Really…anytime something says Free I am more than likely going to cheer up. I’m meeting people here left and right. A few of them I probably could have skipped, but isn’t that always the case?

I did go out with a guy the other night. I felt like stabbing myself in the eye with my dinner fork the entire night. Seriously one of the most boring men I have ever met…EVER. He probably answered his phone every five minutes and then made some comment about how heavy his rolex was. Ok…so not cool. Tool.

So now I am single and loving it…which makes for plenty of knitting time.

YES! The Knotty Girl is still knitting. I am making quite a bit of progress on the Edgar scarf and have started a cute swirl hat for my friend’s Christmas present. Hopefully I will have it done before March. Good thing she is so understanding. I understand she has no money, she understands I’m slow.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

A nice close-up of Edgar...

And the start of the swirl hat...

So now the big question still remains…WHAT DO I GET PEOPLE FOR CHRISTMAS?! Obviously the knitting just won't be complete!

Ack! Any ideas?!

I love FALL!

1. Leaves change color. When I lived in Florida I thought that trees had two colors. Green and Dead. There were no shades of yellow, reddish-browns, or the gorgeous burnt oranges that I see all over Boston. Well, technically I see them on my car window as I try to drive anywhere, but that is another story.

2. Its sweatshirt time! Its cool enough to wear a warm, cozy sweatshirt, but not so cold that I have to wear my big wool coat over it and proceed to looking completely like the Stay Puff marshmallow man. I have been wearing the same sweatshirt for the past 6 years. I mean, I have added to the stash, but still I go back to my old favorite. A bright orange sweatshirt with a big snail on it. Hmm…I might want to reevaluate wearing that all the time.

3. It starts the holiday season. I love holidays. I love spending time with my family. I love having days off from work.  Enough said.

4. College football. There is nothing better than a cold Zima (hush! Its good stuff!) and a good team winning the game.

5. My feet shrink. The weather makes my feet smaller and not so swollen. WHOO HOO!

Saturday, October 29, 2005

What happened to Fall?!

Right now I am sitting on my couch watching it snow outside. That is right. SNOW. Seriously?!

On another note...I went out last night. WHOO HOO!

Of course, with any Knottygirl outing there is a rant. Here goes...

So I met up with some friends of friends of friends. Very random girls who I don't really know, but had a good time anyway. Since its close to Halloween there were quite a few people dressed up.

Now here is my ONE problem with Halloween. Why is that some girls feel that Halloween is a great excuse to dress up in practically nothing and call it a costume? There were TONS of girls walking around in some type of bra top, fishnet stockings, a pair of short underwear type shorts and of course the required hooker shoes and boa. That is SO not a costume kids.

Dress up like a banana or something. Now that is a costume. :)

Attention span of a 4 year old...

I have no idea how people knit large projects like sweaters and such.

I can barely get through a scarf, forget mittens and socks! I am trying my hand at socks, but so far I have cuff after working on it for two weeks. Yes, one cuff. Blah.

So I decided to make a scarf that I found on the Knitty.com.

I found the yarn at my local yarn store and I got to town. After two nights of knitting (and fixing mistakes) I have this!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Its not much, but its mine. :) Plus, why do I suck as a photographer? I can't get a clear photo for anything. I think my camera has it in for me.

On another note! I'm still adjusting to Boston. Apparently God knew that I was starting this whole public transportation thing and is testing me with the weather that we have been experiencing lately. Seriously? How am I going to do this in the winter?! Blah. I need a driver.

Do you think...

that I can walk my dog from my apartment window? I think that might be animal abuse. Actually I am sure it probably is.

Its cold, raining, and Korky ate cheese today. Its been a long day out in the rain with the cutie thats constipated.

Rain, Rain Go Away...

It has been raining for the past week in Boston. Now normally I wouldn't be so pissed off at the weather but I walk to work now. Did ya hear that? Rain and walking to work. Not a good combination.

SO I pulled the ultimate lazy moment...I drove to work. Its 2.1 miles to work and I drove. I should hang my head in shame now. BUT WAIT! It gets worse...I had to pay $27 to park in the garage to drive to work. Ok, now I HAVE to hang my head in shame. Secretly though...I don't feel bad one bit. The last thing I want to do is walk to rain when everyone is busy building the second ark. Noah should have left instructions.

There is one good part to all this rain...cold weather. Which has made encouraged the Knotty Girl to actually start knitting. I am super excited. I am definately working on some new things and will be sure to post some pics tonight. Yippee for the Knotty Girl!

YIPPEE!

I’m officially in Boston! How exciting is that?!

My first outing in my new city was to a Vodka tasting with some of my coworkers. I never realized that I am actually not a fan of this stuff. Some of them smelled like they could take my fingernails off if I dipped my hand into it. Who wants to down gasoline into their body?!

I would write more but I’m exhausted from all the walking I have been doing. I even drove to work and payed the out of control parking garage fee because I just couldn't do it yesterday. Apparently I am very out of shape. HA!

Stay tuned…updates in a day or so.

All Set Up and Ready To Go...

So I'm officially in Boston. Half of all of my belongings are still in my car, but they are out of my CT house and that is what matters. :)

Oh, The Knotty Girl is also going to be in tip top shape with all the crappy walking I have to do.

Tomorrow is the first day of work so stay tuned for an update!!!

The Knotty Girl Quits Her Job...

Normally I don’t write about my job. I find that nothing good can come from me making jokes about the people I work for or with.

However, I have to announce that today is my last day at my current job. 09-16-5 is my official resignation date. I leave with happiness and excitement for what is in store for me in my new position and town. I also leave with sadness because I truly love my coworkers here.

I’m worried that my sense of humor will not be accepted at my new job. I mean, how forunate am I that I managed to find two jobs since I graduated college that both tolerate my EXTREMELY FUNNY stories and allow me to complain about my roommates on a regular basis? I consider myself extrememly fortunate that I sometimes wear the same pants for days in a row and no one comments. They never say anything when I stroll in at 9:30 because I didn't hear my 18 alarms go off. I love them!

I worry that I won’t make any friends in Boston. My friends here and in Florida love me for me. They accept all my weird personality quirks and my need for frequent naps. They listen to me when I start to complain about the same injustice in the world for the 15th time…that day and they do so willingly. I don’t even have to beat them up to get them to listen.

I also worry that I will get lost a lot. I have a great sense of direction, but I’m usually in my car with that direction. I hate walking 4 blocks in one way only to realize I should have gone the other way. OR I should be on a totally different block entirely. Blah. On the upside, you don’t get fatter by walking. Skinny butt here I come!

So as my last work day comes to end, the Knotty Girl starts her last weekend in CT. The next time I write I will officially be a Boston resident.

Have a Knotty day and even Knottier Night!

McDonalds sells mozzarella sticks!

Seriously?! Does everyone have the same fancy schmancy McDonalds menu that we have?

Now I realize many of you are healthy, crunchy, never eat a drop of fast food kind of people but I have to have at least one reader that enjoys a dinner of a milkshake and french fries every now and then...right?!

So I show up at McDonalds yesterday ready to get my uniform dinner on Tuesday nights of a large (not Biggie, because god forbid you acidentally use the wrong word at the different, but same fast food restaraunts) Coke and a small french fry.

This meal has the four main food groups. Its got the sugar, caffeine, carbs, and salt. Perfect, right?! No? Ok. Well I didn't get my Cindy Crawford figure based on whole grains, veggies, and GOOD fats. Blah.

So I pull around the corner to place my order in the little black box that requires me to yell AT LEAST four times my order and I notice a little sign next to the intercom. What is this? Mozzarella sticks! Could it be? Could my favorite food item of all time now be available quickly and cheaply. SCORE!

Those suckers are $1 for four and I love them.

I am not ashamed.

Just a little Knotty Humor...

There are times when I feel like I am a bit smarter than most people I come in contact with. Ok, lets be honest, I feel that way most of the time. :)

However, there are also times when I feel like I could not possible be functioning as a human being. The following is one of those moments...

************************

So Best friend’s roommate is a moron. Lets just get that out there. Nice girl, but dumber than dumb.

Best friend is chatting to her about how she thinks she might need a change in her profession. Right now she works with juvenile’s and its getting to be more than she can handle. She thinks she might want to work with adults now. She looks at her roommate and says, “But not the elderly. For some reason I have a hard time working with the elderly.”

Her roommate says (wait for it!)….

"That is so racist." She has all the disgust in her voice that you would imagine if someone said something so out of control that you wanted to throw up.

HAAAA! That is hilarious!

Best friend just got up and called me. No comment to the moron roommate needed really.

I am cracking up during this story. For some reason I just can’t stop.

A few days later I am retelling the story to a friend and when I finish he says, “What is the name for when you don’t like old people?”

I think for a moment and then say, “Is it gender bias?”

The minute it came out of my mouth I just hung my head in shame. Seriously?! I’m an idiot!!!

For the record…ageism.

Have a Knotty Day and enjoy a good laugh at your friend’s expense.

Little kids say the funniest things...

The Knotty Girl is kid free except for the occasional times I feel like Korky is my child, so when I do hang out with the kiddies I always get a kick out of them.

Here are a couple of cute stories that have made me laugh over the past few days...

1. Korky is often watched by a good friend of mine when I leave town. Her children (4 and 6 years old) adore Korky! They also have a large mix dog, Chance, that is the sweetest thing but out weights Kork by at least a 100 lbs. A few weekends ago I went to pick Korky up from his mini vacation and as we were leaving through the front door the 4 year old yells out through the screen door at the front of the house, "Bye Chance's Bitch!"

I almost fell over from laughing! Apparently the girl's father often calls Korky Chance's bitch because Chance is in love with Kork and tries to hump him on a regular basis. :) Gotta watch what you say around the youngins!

2. A friend of mine at work told me this story about her child...

Her little boy has been in school for about two weeks. In those TWO weeks he has been sent to the principal's office three times! Apparently everytime his 1st grade teacher comes to talk to him at his desk he gets up and runs to the other side of the room. He then refuses to return to his desk until his teacher walks away.

So the the 3rd time happens and my friend goes up to the school. She pulls her son aside where no one could here them talking and asks him what the hell is wrong with him! He looks up at her and says, "My teacher smells."

She looks at him puzzled and says, "What do you mean smells?"

Little boy looks around and leans in to whisper..."Her no-no spot smells really gross Mom."

My friend almost passed out! Of course! Teachers are right at nose level with kids when they are standing next to them so of course it makes sense.

I told her that instead of trying to approach the teacher herself she should just let her son explain it to the teacher himself. You know, blame it on kids still developing social skills and such.

3. Same friend as story #1 has a child that started school last year. She came home after the first few weeks of school and told her mom that the next door neighbor kid was in Mrs. Black's class.

My friend takes her child to school a few days later and drops the neighbor kid off too. When neighbor kids teacher walks out she says to her, "Hello Mrs. Black". "Mrs. Black" says, "My name is Mrs. Smith". OH! Then it dawns on my friend. Her daughter overheard her neighbor friend say her teacher was black and assumed that was her name. When she sat her down later to talk about it and explained that neighbor kid's teacher was black and not named Mrs. Black, her child looked at her and said..."I need to work on my colors. I thought Mrs. Smith was more of a brown color. huh."

So those are just a few of the cute stories I hear. They satisfy any type of longing I have for children. :) Feel free to share your stories too!

Phrases I Miss...

Any sentence that ended in NOT.

Cool beans.

Like, that was so awesome! (ok, so I *might* still say this, but I sound dumb so I'm not claiming it as a current phrase in my vocabulary on a regular basis)

Ahh...those were the days. :)

The Knotty Girl Remembers New Orleans...

The KnottyGirl has some fabulous news…she is moving to Boston!

This is an amazing opportunity for me and is sure to provide many more stories for the Knotty Spot. Or at least I hope it does. Keep those fingers crossed and a few toes wouldn’t hurt either that the pup and I find an apartment or we will be living in the oh so cool Santa Fe on the streets for a bit when we get there.

Now on to a sadder occasion…Huricane Katrina. What a sad sad situation! New Orleans isn’t far from where I grew up so we were visitors there at least once a year. To lighten this situation, I’ve decided to divulge a few Mardi Gras stories from my *Note: No pictures will be shared due to my need to protect the innocent. That and I was going through an ugly hair stage.*

Picture it…1999. My mom and dad decided that it was about time that I experienced New Orleans. We had been there at least twice a year every year for the better part of my life, but never to Mardi Gras. The big day came and my parents, along with my cutie patutie boyfriend back then, packed ourselves onto this local tour bus thing that was Mardi Gras bound.

Apparently on the brochure they failed to mention that the average age of those on the small tour bus to Mardi Gras was around 75 and the drink of choice was a vodka tonic, minus the tonic around 8am. Seriously?! Who drinks vodka at 8am? Not I. I stick to shots of Baileys or Kahlhua. Gotta get that milk in there somewhere I say.

Anyway, the drive to NO from my town is about 4 hours. Not really a bad drive at all. Driving with about 40 75 year olds made the ride go from 4 hours to about 6 in order to fit in the multiple bathroom/smoking breaks that were needed. I was unaware that your bladder gets smaller as you get older, but I am almost positive that all the vodka that was consumed had something to do with it.

When we arrived at our destination, my parents let cutie patutie boyfriend and I go off on our own and we decided on a time and place to meet. Let the craziness begin, right?! Umm…no.

Cutie patutie boyfriend figured out quickly that he is claustrophic and is allergic to ugly women flashing their stuff to him. I, on the other hand, had a direct reaction to pee that did not belong to me being on my leg.

By the end of the day, we had tons of beads but were so ready to go home. I was under age at the time so I of course I did not partake in any alcoholic beverages that day. Blah. When we returned home, my parents stated that while they had a great time, Mardi Gras just wasn’t for them. Cutie Patutie boyfriend said that he believed that he had been permanently blinding by all the ugly women there and was never going to return.

Fast forward to 2001, I convinced my best friend to go to Mardi Gras with me. I had now two years of Mardi Grasing under my belt and was ready to bring another person into my cult of Mardi Gras lovers.

Best friend had never even been to New Orleans so I knew this would be interesting. We decided to drive ourselves there too…ha!

When we arrived we parked our car on St. Charles street and got to drinking immediately. One of my favorite features of New Orleans is the ability to get any type of frozen delight I can possibly imagine at any time of the day.

As we were sitting on some dirty sidewalk drinking our Pina Coladas at 9am Best Friend sees a street sign down the street. Well alrighty then. I decide to open the world of Canal Street to Best friend.

We get to Canal Street and it looks a bit crowded. Actually, it was boob to butt full of people.
I grabbed best friend’s hand and started pushing through. People were grabbing body parts I didn’t even know I had! Then it happened…

Do you know those big carts with all those dumb toys you can buy hanging on it that you see at parades and such? Normally there is some type of big blow up bat and maybe even some spinning light up laser sword thing that no child should have because its just god awful annoying.

Well, I looked to my right to see who was trying to molest me and I saw one of these dreaded carts. Then it started to appear closer and then closer. Next thing I knew it had fallen over and knocked me down! I was covered in bats, swords, beads, and most importantly…whatever I was laying in on the ground.

When I finally stood up I was covered in what can only be described as slime. Best Friend had also fallen off sidewalk and stepped in a large puddle of this slime. It was a mixture of beer, frozen pina coladas (not mine though…I NEVER spill alcohol), pee, spit, and whatever other random trash floated over to that area.

It smelled horrible and I think I threw up a little in my mouth.

The rest of the night was a blur but I do know that when we finally made it back to my car, I was covered in beads and still had a best friend.

New Orleans is a city that holds a lot of memories for me. From family outings to crazy times with my friends. At this time in history I can honestly sad that I feel not only sadness for the people that are in this area, but also for the loss of such a historic city that was filled with character and spunk.

New Orleans will always be a part of me.

PS. If you feel helpless and want some way to feel involved then DONATE!

No , not to the Knotty Girl cause but the Red Cross. Red Cross

I hate the mall...

I hate the mall.

Yes, the self proclaimed shopper extraordinaire hates the mall.

It basically boils down to 5 main reasons. Hang in while I explain…

1. Its always hot as hell. So I’m in JCPenny today (or CPEn y as the sign said) and I immediately begin to sweat. I don’t mean a light perspiration, but a full out sweatin’ like a pig. I’m not sure if JCPenny thinks that by making me sweat my fat butt will suddenly lose those extra pounds so that I can fit into their never-ending teen clothing. Seriously?! Does that store have an over 15 section? I swear the only thing I saw were t-shirts that said things like “I Make This Shirt Look Good” and a pair of pants that said “Bootylicious”. I’m sorry, but at no point will my butt be squeezing into a pair of pants that shout to the world that I love my butt. When I was in college the most popular shorts were the ones that had “ABC” (insert school initials there). I used to joke with my sorority sisters that I should be paid to walk around with a modified pair of these shorts on because I could actually fit the entire name on my butt. Forget initials!

The mall is basically hot as hell…literally.

2.I’m not in highschool anymore. I know, I know…my stellar good looks and charming personality would have you think otherwise, but it is true. I am in my mid 20s. What does this mean when it comes to the mall?

I AM OLD! I am by far one of the oldest people walking around the mall on any given Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night. Forget trying to get into Icing to get some crappy jewelry. There apparently is some type of incense that attracts all humans under the age of 17 OR creepy guys that are over the age of 18 that are looking for girls under 17.

I find it hard not to stop the young man walking next to me and smack him on the back of the head. For the love of all that is good and right in the world…pull up your pants and take that stupid rag off your head. Its not hot! Do you see Diddy (no longer P. Diddy by the way) wearing that crap?! No. Get a belt and a hat and lets call it a day kids.

3.I have no sense of mall direction.

Its quite possible that I have the most confusing mall in the world in my town. If I do not go out the exact same door every single time I visit the mall I will never find my car again. I will be doomed to walk around aimlessly in the parking lot clicking my little alarm thingy while praying to god that eventually it will go off and I will know where I am parked.

When I’m inside the mall I find myself walking past the same store over and over. Either that or that damn Forever 21 has tons of spawn stores. I will let you guess which one is the truth.

4.I like the feeling of blood in my fingers.

Now this is the hard one for some to understand. For some reason stores feel the need to make the handles in bags the size of a small infants hand. My two fingers end up trying to hold up the entire bag in hopes that all my granny panties from Sears won’t fall out all over the entire floor and in the process end up losing all circulation to them. Why can’t they get together and all have nice bags with fabric handles? Is that so hard? Hmpf. Ann Taylor Loft does it so everyone should.

5.Last, but certainly NOT least… The food court.

Basically the food court is what is wrong with this country. A bunch of different types of “restaurants” trying to sell the same thing for a butt load of money. Seriously?! How many Chinese places do you need in one mall? Is it possible for the Taco Bell kid to get any slower than the kid who works in the place OUTSIDE of the mall? I think not my friends. I think they put the slower kids in the mall food court as to annoy me even more than usual. (No offense to mall workers. I am speaking of my especially moronic mall workers only.)

The food court combines every thing I hate about the mall. Its hot, its filled with teenagers who are sucking on their coke trying to be cool in their oh-so-unique goth gear, and the tables are all nasty with goobers and I have no place to put my teeny handled bags to rest my numb hands.

With that…I’m off to the mall. I need to do a little retail therapy after this small rant.

I'm workin on it...

The Knotty Girl is back! I promise I'm working on an update. I have so much to say and just so much space.

Plus, I realize that most of it is just crap. No really...it is.

Stay tuned.

I'm leaving on a jet plane...

But I do know that I will be back again. Blah.

I'm leaving on Tuesday for my required (but much enjoyed) trip to visit my parents. :) Originally it was supposed to be a "Surprise My Mom For Her Birthday" trip but then I quickly remembered that my mom hates surprises and would not be thrilled to see me when I jumped up on their doorstep at 10 at night. Plus, I wouldn't have a car there so calling my mommy to come pick me up would kind of ruin it there.

OH! And I don't have a key to the house. Seriously?! I was thinking about this the other day. I have keys to several of my friends houses but not to the house I was raised in? Something is wrong with this picture. Hmpf.

So here is the deal...I am a crappy flyer. I used to be really great at it and enjoyed it so much! Now, I get sick to my stomach at the idea of flying.

Its not because I am scared of terrorists or of crashing...I am afraid of body odor. Not my own (I smell very good thank you very much!) but of others. Seriously.

About four years ago my fear began. I was leaving to go to London for a much anticipated trip. I loaded the plan ready to go with book in hand and a cute little eye cover. Next thing I know a man sits down next to me that could literally make your hair stand on end he smelled so bad. He was like Pigpen from Charlie Brown with the smell he had going on. It was rank!

He proceeded to chat me up the entire trip and let me tell you that his breath was not helping the situation AT ALL. UGH...Hello?! Breat mints?

A few trips later I apparently was seated next to his sister. She was one of those hippie kids who refused to bath, shave her legs, and did not wear deodorant. I'm all for being natural and organic, but at some point you have to give in to the "man" and get rid of that odor. For the love of all that is good and right...WEAR DEODORANT!

Then there was the cherry on the banana split...I was flying into Missouri for what was to be a crazy trip. How could it not be in Missouri?! Anywho...this quite greasy looking man sits down next to me. At this point I realize that I am done flying. I will start driving everywhere! I knew this man was going to sit next to me the minute he stepped onto the plane. People started dropping like flys as he walked past them from his odor. When he sat down near me I realized why...he was soaked in Old Spice ON TOP OF HIS B.O.! Seriously?! My eyes started to water and the next thing I knew I was asking for a barf bag. I was not the favorite passenger on that plane.

When I got off the plane my relatives were waiting with open arms to greet me. However, as I went to give them all hugs they quickly retracted. Apparently, the smell attached itself to me, my hair, and all my belongings. WHY!? I was the smelly girl!

So wish me luck this week...here is to no B.O. and a safe landing!

See you all soon.

Knotty Girl...OUT!

Thongs are evil...

I readily admit that I wear thongs on the occasional basis. I normally wear them when I am going out to the club because I am desperately afraid that something alcohol related is going to happen and people are going to have to rip my clothes off for a medical emergency and what will they find...my hanes her ways. UGH...so instead I wear my uncomfortable thongs.

I spend most days preventing my underwear from riding up my crack and one day a week I place it there on purpose. Riiigggghhhtttt...makes sense.

After this past weekend at the bachelorette party I was at I have decided that all people should protest thongs in public.

What is up with the slouch socks and army boots?! That isn't hot!!!! :( GRRR...

Thongs=Pain

So join me in the protest against men in thongs! Its for the good of all women everywhere...or at least at the women that frequent the Savage Men Review ;)

Crocs Rock!

They are ugly and they make me trip all the time, but I *heart* my Crocs! Seriously, they are the most comfortable shoes ever. They weigh about 3 ounces total and I can't stop wearing them. Even to work! My Crocs are a medium and this adds one more reason to why I love these shoes.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Now that I've posted this picture I see that my office floor is quite dirty. I honestly have no idea what that random stain is in the corner but I feel the urge to investigate it when I go back to work on Monday. Either that or just stick a chair over it so I don't have to look at it. HA!

I detest clean clothes...

I know that sounds strange, but I must considering how much I loathe doing laundry. Seriously, I can not stand to do this and if I had money I would pay someone to do this for me every week.

My clothes have been thrown from one side of the room to the other in hopes that they will one day be put in the washer. I have been reduced to buying new undies instead of washing them. How sad is that? Instead of just walking my ass down 40 flights of steps to the basement to stick my clothes in the washer, I drive the 20 minutes to the Walmart to get new undies. Don't wrinkle your nose at my Walmart undies. This girl can't afford to be buying Victoria's Secret underwear every time I run out of clean ones. (PS. I say undies because panties is one of my no-no words. It makes me cringe when I hear it. Along with crease and moist. UGH!)

I have a pair of black pants that I am trying to convince myself that no one will notice that they have been laying on the floor for the past month. Who am I kidding? It looks like a small animal has formed because of all the dog hair that has collected on them.

This morning I walked into morning in a dress and nice blazer. People were shocked at how nice I looked. Little do they know that I just refuse to do laundry so now I am forced to wear my DRY CLEAN ONLY clothes. Well crap.

So I must sign off...and drive my butt to Walmart to get some undies.

Night all!

Random Acts of Kindness...

So tonight I was at my local yarn store hanging out and knitting with some local ladies. They were showing off their wonderful work with felting and I was admiring their stuff.

One woman had brought a friend along and she too was showing off her beautiful bags that she had made. One in particular caught my eye and I comented on it right away.

She turned to me and asked me what my name was.

I answered.

She then said...well here then. Enjoy! AND GAVE ME THE PURSE! How lovely is that?!

Maybe I will buy someone's breakfast in the McDonalds line tomorrow morning. :)

Back in the day...

Last night my good friend P-Lo and I were talked about childhood crushes as we drove home from a night out on the town. She was laughing so hard when I got out of her car that I am starting to believe she was actually laughing AT me and not with me like I
originally thought. Huh. I'm going to have to look into that.

Now, before I start, please realize that I was born in 1980. I am an only child born to a father who loves people like Barbara Streisand,Diana Ross, Patti Labelle, and of course, Janis Joplin. My mother was (and it pains me to say this) a Randy Travis fan. She also enjoyed the silent hum of the static on every AM station. I think these three items really can tell you a lot about me before I even mention who my
crushes were.

When I was a little kid, lets say kindergarten and 1st grade, I was obsessed with the Care Bears, Fraggle Rock, and the Smurfs.

Its not until now that I am thankful that I was able to mentally mature at all. These shows could take point off your IQ just by listening to the theme songs. However, I loved them. My grandmother made these cute little ceramic care bears for me for my birthday. My mother thought that she would take advantage of this gift by letting me play with them nonstop. This includes sleeping and bathing with them. Now lets
think about this…I'm 5 and I'm sleeping with ceramic figurines. Huh. I dreamed of one day becoming a Care Bear with a Great Care Bear stare. I would practice day and night on sticking my stomach out far enough in hopes that a little burst of sunshine, four leaf clover, or a rainbow would break out. The most I ever got was a little fart.

Once I realized I would never be a Care Bear I moved on to loving the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

I played the tape non-stop, only pausing to fast forward past the talking part in the Thriller song. Every now and then I would attempt to freak myself out by listening to this part and regretted it every time. Nothing to me was cooler than Michael in his super skinny black leather jumpsuit with tons of belts, buckles, bells, and whistles. He could jump around like no man (or woman for that matter) I had ever seen. I went to bed every night content with knowing that when the time came I would meet MJ and we would be married. Now I realize that I am not his type. I am not a boy and I'm
over the age of 12. A girl could dream back then though...

When Michael took a small break, New Kids on the Block busted out on the scene. They even took the place of Care Bears with a fun cartoon based on their exciting lives.

This was the first time where I was actually allowed to go into Spencers and check out the posters in the back corner of the store. My dad would stand with my while I slowly flipped through the posters time and time again trying to decide whether or not I wanted another group shot poster or maybe just the single photo of Joey
McIntyre. Bless my dad. Birthday, Christmas and random gifts were easy to get for me then. If you bought me one of those large buttons with any of the teenage heartthrob's mugs on it, I was a happy camper. I would diligently wear it on my super cool hot pink Hypercolor shirt that was tied on the side in a big knot and when I got to school I would proudly display it on my desk by using the built in stand on the
back of the button. I was the envy of my friends back then. Now they make fun of me because I still have that button and bust it out on my desk at work every now and then. Seriously, I am always good for a laugh.

After I had stopped Hangin' Tough I began to grow into a young girl that liked that bad boys. Specifically George Michael. Stop Laughing.
I mean it.

My dad (poor guy) volunteered to take me to his Faith Concert. We sat so far up in the Civic Center that we had to watch most of the concert on the big screens on the side of the stage. Looking back I realize that we might have just been watching the
videos from the songs without even realizing it. Huh. George Michael, never just George, was scruffy, hot, and wore a cool leather jacket with a big cross earring. Really, is there more to men then that? I think not my friends. He shook his butt because he wanted my sex and I had no idea what he was talking about. I wanted to help him get that monkey off his back and I was even willing to take it to the zoo. I was so in love. Several years later I found out that the only way our paths would meet was if I decided to start using men's public restrooms. Another crush bites
the dust…

After my breakup with George Michael I went through a drought of crushes. No man was good enough to beat George Michael's sexy snarl,or Michael's shiny chains, or Joey's Boston accent. I was a little girl lost. UNTIL…

STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN! (FYI...if you don't know, he is a wrestler.)

I had found the love of my life and I was ready to embrace it. Ask yourself how any woman can resist a man who can wear his panties in public with hooker boots and still manage to crush down all the recycling?! I certainly could not. Every night that
the WWF would come on I watched diligently waiting to catch a glimpse of my dream man. Would he be wearing his sexy knee brace? Or possibly even open a can of whoop ass on someone? A girl could only hope. Then my time came…WWF was coming to my college town and Stone Cold was going to be there. I called every single person I knew and asked them to go with me. Not one of those meanies said yes. I'm still pissy
about it to this day. So dear old Dad came to the rescue and we went to a WWF match together. As we sat in the stands among thousands of 12-14 year old little boys I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. When he walked out of the back with the cloud of smoke surrounding him it was like an angel had just walked into the room. The heavens opened, a light showered him, and music began to play. Oh wait, that was just the tech guys at the Civic Center. Whatever. It worked for me at that time. My dad and I watched excitedly as Stone Cold wrestled and when it was time for him to leave the ring my dad pushed me down to the bottom of the seats. It was my time to make a connection to him. I screamed and waved my hands and every now and
then elbowed a small child out of the way and then it happened... he nodded his head at me! I turned to my dad and he was just as excited as I was! It had happened! Stone Cold Loved Me!

To this day Stone Cold and I share a romance. I'm sure he remembers me and will eventually one day be able to pannounce his love for me to the public.

Until then…its boys who can't read and men who don't own clean underwear.

Yippee Skippy! Thank yous are in order!

Thank you so much to Robin aka BabyThree4Me I now have a banner. How great is that?!!

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!

WHOO HOO!

I love my bed and my bed loves me...

Every weekday I am supposed to be at work by 9am. On any of those given days you will find me strolling in around 9:30am with hopes that my boss has either disappeared into some meeting or has found someone else to chat with that is nowhere near my office.

To some this latecoming is signs of a lack of work ethic. To me, its a sign of how comfortable my bed is. See...my bed loves me, and I love it!

After I graduated college I finally moved into my own apartment with just me, myself, and I as my roommate. It was wonderful! Only one problem. I was broke!I was a grown up with a real job and I was not going to have help from my parents so soon in the game. So instead I bought a futon frame and then a brand new mattress for the sucker. The cover to the futon was a lovely shade of zebra stripes. My mother, being the good sport she is, found some faux zebra fur and hot pink solid material to make huge throw pillows. They were awesome and I still miss them (thanks Kork for peeing on them).

The futon worked for about 4 months and then I started to wake up with a serious cramp in my neck. I attributed this to my futon. So I did the next best thing...I bought a blowup bed. Actually, I didn't buy it. I just borrowed it from my mom. Let me tell you right now. There is nothing cooler than inviting people over to your house and then showing them your blowup bed.OH wait! A blowup bed with a featherbed that I thought would add a little luxuary to bed. How adult is that? It was adult for about a year. HA!

Well when I finally moved out of the state I sold the futon and gave back the blowup bed to my parents. It was a sad parting for about 3 seconds exactly. When I got to my current home I was determined to get a bed.

My dad and I went on a search and I immediately found heaven. It had a pillow top and the minute I layed on it I felt like I could just fall asleep right there. Problem...I had no money!!! :( Dang it. So I broke down and let my parents pay for the bed. Ok, so it wasn't really breaking down but more like "Please Daddy, Please!"

So that leads me to now. I have 320 thread count gold sheets (to match my super cool gold curtains) and my fun teal cover for my down comforter (another gift from mom and dad). I get in my bed and its nice and cool. I kick my legs back and forth to feel the soft sheets brush against my freshly shaved legs and I am in H-E-A-V-E-N!

I'm in heaven so much that I sleep till around 9:15am on weekdays and on the weekend at least till 2pm or so. I know, I know...how do I do that? Well my friends, it is hard work. You know that point where you have to go the bathroom so you get up. Nope, not me. I work through the pain. I work those kidneys like nobody's business. If someone could get fit by working out their kidneys I would be Miss Fitness America!

My bed loves me when I smell a little. My bed loves me when I'm super drunk and can barely make the entire way onto the bed. My bed loves me when I'm super clean and its sheets are so clean that it squeaks when I roll around too much. My bed loves when Korky snuggles up on my pillow and stares out the window.

My bed loves me and I love my bed. :)

We have a winner!

After some long searching (ok, only a few weeks) we have finally found a third roommate to replace Stripper She-Who-Can-Not-Be-Named. Our house is too cute and people should feel super lucky to live here! Ok, maybe not, but at least it isn't falling to the ground!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The minute she came in our house she complimented the color of our walls. She had me at "Cool!". I enjoy anyone who can appreciate my artistic side. :)

Now the search to find this wonderful roommate is where it gets interesting.

I placed a wonderful ad on a slightly odd, but popular website in hopes that one of the few normal eggs would contact me.

My first email was this:

*************************************************

HELLO,

THANKS
DR.. ****

*********************************************

Sorry lady, no snapy decisions are made around this place.

Here is another email from the most beautiful girl in the word. This was also accompanied by a naked picture, but I will save you from those gruesome photos. Nobody wants to see a Jack Daniels bottle being held to some girls mouth simple by strong boobie muscles. Well...I guess someone does, but you won't get that smut here. HA!

*******************************************************

My name is ***** *****, I live with my sister in Arizona. Am a model by occupation and i mostly model cloths and other things like shoes and more, I have been modeling ever since i was 16 years but that was locally but now i model all over the state and sometimes move out of the country to model too.
i am currently in west Africa ,{Nigeria} to be precise ,and am there for my contract, modeling for issey miyake,is just a month contract, but i wont love to go back to my sister house when getting back to the state.
i registered to craigslist and i saw you advertising your room, that there is vacant there, I will love to know if the room can be given to me because I will love to come there directly to stay when coming back to the state.
About the payment that is not a problem I WILL TELL MY LAST BOSS WHO I MODELED FOR WHEN I WAS IN THE STATE TO SEND YOU A CHECK OF MY LAST PAYMENT WISH HE IS OWING ME SO THAT THE ROOM CAN BE KEPT FOR ME.
****************************

Wait, let me send you my address, phone number, credit card number, and SSN so you can mail it to me quickly. Freaks.

Wait, the best is yet to come. I get a phone call from "Darryl". Darryl sounds pretty cool on the phone and we are chatting up a storm. I ask why he is moving and he says he still lives with his mom but she is going into a nursing home so he needs to find a new place. Still living with mom? So I ask, "How old are you?" He says, "How old do I sound?" Are you kidding me?! I don't have time to play stupid games. Just tell me how freaking old you are!

So he says "Well I look 20, but I'm really 39." So wait, let me get this straight? You are 39, male, living with mom, and now you wont to move in with two 20 something year olds? AND then complained about the price of rent and was worried he wouldn't be able to pay it. Oh my.

Needless to say, I ended that conversation pretty quickly.

So today potential new roomie comes by. Very sweet, extremely pretty, and damnit...she's super skinny! She is becoming a physcial therapist and she runs cross country. Who does that? How do they have that much time? I'm lucky if I have enough time to brush my teeth on a daily basis!!

So wish me luck kids. Tomorrow we are going out together so she can meet Famous Ang and Ang can can give her approval.

If you don't hear back from me in the next week or so, send the search parties out. :)

Happy 4th of July!!!

I hope everyone has a happy and SAFE 4th of July!

By the way, fireworks freak me out. I know, JUST KNOW, that eventually a little bit of them are going to fling over towards me and set my hair on fire.

Remember...crap in the hair aka "product" = flammable.

SAFE kids, SAFE Holidays!

Big Hair Woes...

This weather is killing me...and MY HAIR!

The humidity it out of control in my area. I do my best to shower every day. It is a struggle for me to get out of bed and do this, but I know if I don't that the hair on my legs will start to grow and grab little children. My hair will become greasy and not require any product for it to have that greased back ponytail look that is popular. So instead, I do my good deed. How am I rewarded for my good deed? BIG HAIR!

I blow dry that crap like there is no tomorrow and put on all those $30 humidity protective "products" that swear they will keep out all the moisture. By the time I'm done I am wearing a helmet of product. I look similar to Peggy Bundy on humid days, minus the leopard print top and leggings,of course. Although, now that I think about it, spandex leggings on my Canada-sized butt might take some attention away from my man made helmet.

Once my product application is done I venture out into the great wide open. Upon opening the door I am greeted with what could only be described as "icky" weather. Ugh...

I can literally feel my hair start to melt around my face. My neck begins to be covered by my $30 product and I start to feel a little slippery. By the time I make it down the steps and walk the few strides to my car, my back and face could serve as a slip-and-slide for small children.

I am now faced with not only sticky hair, but my hair expands. When I try to open my car door I immediately become nervous that I won't fit through my car door. *Warning: Another Willy Wonka reference ahead* I know that I will not get my hair through the door of my car and it will turn into an Augustus Gloop situation when he gets stuck in the chocolate tube. I decide to turn sideways as a just-in-case to get into the car. You can never be to careful really. I start my car and just blast the A/C.

Now, normally A/C would be a blessing, but with the $30 product mixed with my sweat running down my face the A/C blasting on my face immediately makes a mask. I am frozen solid! I know that I am going to die from inhaling all the fumes from my hair crap (forget "product", its just crap). My roommate is going to find me laid out in my car with the A/C pumping and my face frozen solid. I imagine that it will not be a pretty picture. Especially since my hair has grown leaps and bounds.

What is the solution to my hair dilemma? Not showering. Forget doing good deeds. I will just smile at strangers to make up for it. I have a lovely smile and I refuse to give up brushing my teeth. This is one of the *many* reasons I wouldn't make it on Survivor. I'm going hairy legged and greasy haired to work. They can either live with it or build me a bubble to live in during the summer.

Hmm...do you think I could hook up with bubble boy from that movie then? He was hot.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho...

its off to work I went today. Ugh...

There is nothing worse than heading back to work after a nice, not long enough vacation. The minute I walked in the door my coworkers had questions for me. Hello? I have about 300 emails and 20 voicemails to attend to. This is even after I put the vacation message up to let people know I was out of the office. Oh well...at least I am needed, loved, or forgot to do something.

So here is my plan. What do you think?

I believe I am going to look into becoming independently wealthy. I could easily out Paris Hilton herself by partying, clubbing, and attending fashion shows that are disguised as charity events.

I think people might even mistake us for one another, no?

I am even willing to lug my little 20 lb Korky around in a cute little bag that by the end of the day will have cut a permanent mark into my sholder.
Actually, he is a little heavy so maybe I can make this the next COOL bag that Kate Spade will want to make and charge people $300 for?

I am even willing to hang out with the likes of all the bobble head crew like Lindsay Hohan and Nicole Richie (both of who I am actually a big fan of).

Maybe I will just find an easy job that makes me rich quick. Is this possible by being a Neilsen TV Viewer? Hmmm...

Maybe I should become a trophy wife for some rich man. Heck, even for some rich woman!

No? Shucks.

Well its back to work then.

Happy Graduation to Sexy Ang!

My famous roommate graduated a couple of weeks ago and this weekend was her super cool graduation party. I say super with a bit of sarcasm because I had to drive my butt all the way to MA for it. However, we had a good time and I am so excited to announce that she knows what she is doing in the next couple of months besides clean off restaurant tables for a living...

She is going to South Africa to teach English! I'm so psyched for her and I have the feeling she is going to have a great time!!! I'm going to miss her though. :(

A few pics from the glorious party...

HA!

"I'd rather be a happy magic marker, than a skinny pencil."
--Natalie from The Facts Of Life tv show.

I cracked up when I heard this today on VH1 Top 100 Kid Stars.

This is my new motto. At least until I am a skinny pencil.

Then it will be,

"Screw the marker. Skinny pencil it is!"

:)

Still on vacation...will write more soon!

PS. If one person mentions that I look like Natalie, I will have to track you down and then proceed to kick some butt. Please don't make me do this. I don't really care for sweating. Thank you in advance.

And Now for the rest of the story...

If you haven't guessed already, let me tell ya that the photos below are from Lucky Cheng's, a dragqueen restaurant in NYC. Its one of my favorite places to take visitors and I decided take my dad there for his Father's Day visit. He thought it was a riot and had one of those laughs where no sound came out for most of the dinner.

All of the "women" in the photos are actually men.(Did you place the right bet?!) I found out the hard way that one of them was a man when he was stretching on the stage and his "friend" popped out of his cute little bathing suit.

My dad is a good sport though and really embraced all the different people there. Thank goodness or there would have been some awkward moments.

To add to all the nakedness on that day, I got my photo taken with Naked Cowboy in Times Square. My dad could only shake his head and wonder how a man could make money just by standing around in his underwear and cowboy boots. I told him that I could make money doing the same thing and he just gave me the eyebrow look. I quickly told him that I meant I could make the money by people paying me to put my clothes BACK ON! That seemed to calm his nerves a bit, but he quickly said he needed a drink.

More to come on the vacation soon...until then enjoy Naked Cowboy

PS. Soon to come is the Breaking and Entering story! I haven't forgotten. :)

Its getting hot in hur...

Its hot as crap up in my apartment. My roommate dropped the air conditioner out of the window last night and I am having a hard time keeping my self from throwing her out on the lawn with it.

Good god. I moved from Florida to get away from this heat and instead I was greeted by people who don't know the meaning of CENTRAL A/C. Find it people! You will all be happier and in turn, so will I.

Sorry for the pissy post, but heat is not my friend.

OH! and in other news...my imaginary boyfriend that I like to stare at during work is no longer working there. Ugh. There went my only boy prospect!

10 Things I Wish I Knew In High School...

The wonderful Neeka27 has posted a Meme Challenge that I finally decided I could get in on.

10 Things I Wish I Knew In High School

1. It's absolutely not A MUST for me to own that hideous herringbone necklace and white Reebok hightops. Actually, now that I look back on some of those photos I had to wonder what ever made me think that hightops looked good on my treetrunk legs. Ugh...

2. The grunge phase was not a good look. Enough said really.

3. MZ, my senior year boyfriend, was a loser. Always has been and always will be.

4. I should have run for a student government position. I was too lazy and to afraid of running against someone. Instead I was on different advisory boards for those that ran.

5. I should have done more in journalism. I loved that class but didn't put forth nearly enough effort. Plus, I made a lot of jokes about my teacher. Not really that nice, but more fun than it really should have been.

6. I should have reported my spanish teacher for harassing me about my long term boyfriend. She was a nut and didn't teach me crap about spanish. Except how not to cheat by writing all the answers on the inside of a the water bottle label. Hmpf.

7. I should have not wasted that summer hanging out with M&M. They were mean girls who treated me like crap later in life. I wasted time on them that could have much better been served by doing something productive like poking my eye out with a spoon.

8. I should have put that holier-than-thou Kristin in her place when I had a chance. Instead I let it go and pretended nothing happened. Eh, actually I am glad I didn't do that one. I would have wasted a lot of time on someone who wasn't worth it.

9. I should have let my parents chaperone more school functions. We had a great time together when I was a Senior but I wish they would have been around a bit more when I was younger.

10. I should have realized how much fun I was having at the time and taken more pictures. :)Who knew those would have been the good ol' days?!

I'm an -aholic...

I think that it is quite possible that I am every kind of -aholic you can think of. Dramtic? Maybe. But very true I tell ya!

Let me explain.

I am a shopaholic. I absolutely love to shop. Nothing makes me happier than walking out of a store with a brand new purchase. For example, I have been eating ramen noodles for the past few days because I *had* to have this bag.

I had a 20% off coupon so it would be almost illegal if I didn't buy it. Right? Well while I was there I felt bad not treating the other Vera Bradley color fairly, so I bought this bag.

Now, I don't know how you shop, but if I get a bag I feel it neccessary to buy the matching wallet. That led to a matching checkbook cover and wallet for these buys.

I literally skipped out of the store with my purchases!

I also shop every Friday at Ann Taylor Loft. I kid you not that there is a woman at the AT that knows me by name. I was on vacation last week and when I went in today she looked at me funny and asked why I wasn't in the Friday before. I wanted to cry. Am I that predictable? Am I keeping AT Loft afloat? Maybe they are getting ready to go bankrupt or fire this poor girl and I let her down. How could I let this poor girl down?! I figure I will go back tomorrow to make up for my missed Friday.

What normal person thinks like this? An -aholic I tell ya.

What other type of -aholic am I? I have the potential to be an alcoholic. I know this is a serious issue with some but follow me while I write this out before you get all pissy.

I have an addictive personality. I am willing to admit that. There is not a liquor I have met that I haven't enjoyed. Everything from Patron tequila to that cheap ass Pucker Apple crap. By far my faves are Amaretto and Rum, but I hate to leave any one liquor out. If anything, I believe I am a very fair person.

When I was in college I was Miss Party Girl. I know...its hard to imagine. *This is the part where everyone nods their head in agreement.* My friends knew that if they called me I either would have plans for them to go out or be ready to follow whatever plans they had. I was known to start the shots and often I was overly generous and sent them around to others. This is probably the reason I was broke every now and then in college. Screw those takers.

My bestfriend was distraught when she caught me drinking Bailey's for breakfast out of a shotglass. Its not that I was addicted at the time, but I had run out of milk and I figured this was the next best thing. Do you think that would work with my boss? huh.

I quickly realized that if I followed the lifestyle I was leading that I was going to end up being some drunk girl when I was in my 50s hanging out at all the college clubs trying to pick up the hottie frat boy and then end up passing out on the fraternity's front porch. Thanks, but no thanks.

I now limit myself to just drinking every now and then on the weekends with a few of my friends. I am still Miss Party Girl, but with a little less drinking. Plus, I found that when I don't drink as much I have a lot more money to spend on stupid purses.

Another -aholic? I'm a foodaholic. This *might* be the cause of my butt being the size of Scotland. We can never know though. :) There are few foods that I don't care for. Ok, well that isn't really true because I don't eat any meat products. That really does cut out a lot of foods, doesn't it? Well, you get the point. I could eat ice cream for every single meal of the day if I knew my pants would actually work over my hips the next day.

Some people are chocoholics...not I. I am a saltaholic. I love all things salty. Funny enough, I don't put salt on anything. Thanks to my parents for not giving me that habit. Phew. I don't need to be the fat girl that is also retaining water. Next thing you know I would look like Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka when she blows up like a blueberry. No need for that my friends.

Speaking of Willy Wonka, remind me to post about my famous breaking and entering incident last week. NOW that is a story that is worth repeating OVER and OVER. Just ask any of my friends. :)

Another -aholic? I'm a collectaholic. You don't think that is a real thing? Well then you need to stop by my house to check it out. Call first, I don't like surprise visits.

I collect many things! When I was little I collected music boxes. Not like the jewelry kind, but the ones that are a little more artistic. When my parents moved when I was in middle school they went into a box and that box still sits in my bathroom at my parents house. Hmpf. One day they will be displayed.

I collected Dreamsicles. You know those little fat cherubs? Yep. I did those too. My mom finally put a stop to that when our living room started to look like it was a shrine to those little suckers.

I collect bears. My dad does this to me. Every christmas I get a stuffed bear and this past year he almost forgot. I was devastated when I woke up to find that "Santa" had not brought me a bear. I didn't mention it because I didn't want to sound like a brat, but then I broke down. How could my dad forget?! I'm 25 for goodness sake! 25 years of bears! He looked surprised and then remembered that it was in their closet. He hid it...hid it so well he forgot. :)

I now collect Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. Weird I know, but I love that movie! I buy most of my stuff of ebay but I found that most of the items come from Hong Kong. Do you know how much it cost to ship from Hong Kong?! Way to much my friends. But due to my shopaholic ways I pay it. How could I possibly live without the fork, spoon, and chopstick set that I found for only $20! I have no idea and I will never know now that I am the proud owner of this particular item.

I obviously collect purses (I *heart* Vera) and shoes. I can't stop myself.

And last my not least, I collect paper. Reciepts, books, bills, etc. I just can't bring myself to throw crap away. Why?! When I get around to shredding things I end up keeping the shredded bits in the little shredder for weeks. Do I think that its suddenly going to Mary Poppins itself and come back together?! Normally this thing gets emptied because Korky knocks it over and bits of paper are all over the house. The roommate frowns on this. Yea, well I frown on her farting all over the house so deal with it woman.

So you see...I am a -aholic. I can not help it. I can not change it. I have learned to accept myself. I am an acceptaholic.

I am what I am.
